One of the tagline of the cb is "i want to show a different part of me". The cb supposed to show people different side of ILLIT.
Some words that showed in the album packaging that showed the intent(?) of the single album:
- "People call me cute before they even get to know me, and they keep saying it even after they do. But there's so many things about me that you'd never expect. It's just that some things take a bit longer to notice."
- "People give labels too easily. And now I’m peeling them off one by one. I liked some of the names I had before, but not anymore. I have to find a name that’s more me.”
- "Saying I’m nothing but “cute” is boring. You don’t really know yet. How varied my tastes are, or that I can come across as cold sometimes. Some days I’m like a little kid, and other days I’m mature. And some days I’m somewhere in between.”
- “I’m not trying to avoid looking cute on purpose. I'm just showing you a different side of me. A part of me you haven't seen. A part you never thought to ask about. These are all part of who I really am.”
When you watch the MV, in the corner of the first scene, they said "being cute doesn't define who i am. there's a lot more to me than that".
In their debut album, ILLIT showed the glimpse of their "core identity" — 'Super Me' and 'Real Me'. That's the group's concept.
I think people know how some Hybe groups showed their lore through their webtoon original story. Here the general storyline of ILLIT's webtoon, they were 5 normal high school girls living their life, then they got magical powers. So, there's the 'real' them as normal teens, then the 'super' them who need to protect the galaxy.
I hope it clears the confusion, like "their concept is unclear", "they have no identity/direction", or the sarcastic "i thought they're magical girls", etc. Through their debut until now, ILLIT is still stick true to its concept.
