so for context, a "kpop tribute event" happened at belfast, ireland where performers would come out and cover kpop songs and dances, a bunch of moms (karens really,) took their kids to the show thinking the "kpop" meant, "kpop demon hunters", and got extremely disappointedbecause there was no "kpop", not realizing that "kpop" stands for a genre of music and not just kpop demon hunters/huntrix or the saja boys, (this video explains it well)
and when people tried correcting them on tiktok, they just doubled down, saying they got scammed (even though you should always do your research before going to events like this and that kpop isnt just kpop demon hunters), one person tried @' kpop, another tried saying that "kpop should be responsible" as if, again, Kpop was a person and not a genre of music (seriously if you ever feel stupid just remember this person exists cause shes keep fighting with the comments who keep trying to correct them)
so now people are memeing it saying stuff like "oh I went to an imagine dragons concert but there were no dragons, I'm so disappointed!" in a similar vein to what those moms were saying (with other bands/concerts) or posting videos of actual kpop concerts and pretending its the concert, its just really funny and Im glad that for once the kpop fandom is coming together to laugh at this, the last time ive seen this happen is when simon cowell dissed 1d and bts and their fandoms came together to defend them, (cause only kpop fandoms are allowed to disrespect each other), its amazing
I think my favorite meme is this one because the moms kept saying about how "inappropriate" (even tho the songs and costumes were as tame as you can get as kpop can get, and also kpop itself isnt exactly for kids in the first place) so they put some actual "innapropriate" songs as "songs that would put the belfast moms into a coma", it's hilarious ðŸ˜
