It seems Mark is leaving the kpop industry ALTOGETHER—he does not want to be a kpop idol anymore. After he left NCT, i have seen many fans saying he is going to do christian music. Mark was ALWAYS openly christian from his debut—he was thanking god even in his speech after winning their 1st award. Also his dad is a pastor.In his recent Interview(?) in chalsuda ep.1—he had an in-depth conversation about his faith, he was saying~in the future he want to try leading worship.
He also seems to want to start a family—he said somewhere he want to be a girl dad in the future. In my opinion, he wants to live a christian lifestyle from now on. In his letter he mentioned he loved writing in English and wanted to become an author as a child(it is also in young Mark's school yearbook photo posted here). So i think he is going to live a NORMAL life fulfilling his dreams.
Since Mark—a CORE member of NCT has left, i am curious about the future of NCT—about other members renewing their contract. NCT's contract renewal phase have started now. NCT is just 4 different groups with NCT in their name(except WayV) debuting in different times.
The members of debut song of NCT—NCT U "7th sense" were the FIRST ones to sign contract. Since both Mark and Ten's contract are ending on April 8—five of them signed the contract in April 8 2016 —a day before 7th sense release( how is SM getting away with 10 year slave contract..?). Mark left NCT and SM altogether~while Ten left SM but stayed in NCT. Taeyong, Jaehyun and Doyoung's contract are frozen due to military enlistment. The FIRST wave is over for now.
The SECOND wave will start in July. Along with Mark, Taeyong and Jaehyun— other 3 members debuted in NCT's second group NCT127 in July 7(so they signed contract in July 6). Winwin was almost invisible in 127~later moved to WayV~and has been inactive since 2023—will probably leave. Haechan was hinting on renewing in his live yesterday. Yuta was mistreated by SM and now have a booming solo career in japan—might do same like Ten. We will know about these 3 by July 6.
The THIRD wave will start in August. Along with Mark and Haechan—5 other members debuted in NCT's third group NCT Dream in August 25(so they signed contract in August 24) . I think ALL 6 of them are going to renew since chenle was saying they will come back as 6dream. We will know it before August 24.
Johny was added to NCT127 in January 2017~we will know if he renewed by January next year | Jungwoo was added to NCT127 in 2018~his contract is frozen due to military enlistment .
Since NCT127 is having a comeback this year and 2 out of 7 will be in military~i think everyone will stay.
WayV debuted in January 2019 with Ten, winwin and other 4 members. Their renewal will be after 3 more years in 2029.
NCT127 comeback this year was already confirmed BEFORE Mark left~ Doyoung had said last year(?) they recorded their parts before going to military. Dream members also said they are working on their comeback(maybe late this year or next year).
So don't you think NCT is going to continue like before..? and unlike what some people are making up, NCT is not ending..!
Mark will be terribly missed (he was my bias along with Doyoung), he was a great rapper~great dancer~great perfomer but he was also the most overworked idol. It is time for him to finally rest..and NCT to move on without him.
