Wonyoung Accused of Treating Men & Women Differently? #kpop
Since her debut in IVE and even before, Wyong has frequently been a topic of discussion among netisonens. While much of the attention has been positive, the idol has also faced criticism over seemingly minor actions. From the way she eats a strawberry to her overall mannerisms. These moments have led some netisonens to label her a pickme, a term used to describe a woman who allegedly acts a certain way to appeal to men or gain their approval. Recently, her behavior during a fan event sparked fresh debate over her treatment of male versus female fans. From August 1 to 3, the annual KCON LA festival took place featuring several K-pop artists across three days. As part of the convention, fans could pay for upclose experiences with their favorite idols. One package marketed as a meet and greet allowed fans to walk past the idols in a quick highwave event. IVE was one of the groups that participated and videos from their meet and greet have attracted a lot of attention. One clip in particular, uploaded to X, has gone viral. It appears to show Wong Yong reacting differently depending on the fan’s gender. Slow down. Slow down. Some viewers felt she showed more affection to female fans, including gestures like finger hearts while seeming more reserved with male fans. Others argued that Wyang gave attention to everyone and did her best during what was a very fast-paced event. They also pointed out that the video clip only shows a short moment and may not reflect the full context.
