I came across this video recently where someone used AI to create a video of IZONE members taking pictures with their younger selves, and I noticed something interesting in the comments. Most of the reactions are really positive with people were calling it cute, emotional, and creative. There were a few English comments mixed in, but overall the tone felt very supportive.

It got me thinking, because I feel like if something like this went viral in more Western spaces (especially in the US), the reaction would be very different. We’ve already seen situations where AI edits of idols or celebrities get criticized pretty heavily.

So I’m curious why is there such a noticeable difference in how AI content is perceived?

In some Asian fandom spaces, AI edits like this seem to be seen as creative fan content, while in Western spaces they can quickly be labeled as invasive or problematic.

I’m not trying to say one side is right or wrong I’m just genuinely curious about what’s driving this gap in reactions. Would love to hear perspectives from people in different regions or fandom spaces!
