This question does not only come from me writing about mental disorders and queerness in kpop, but from genuine concern about idols's health.
In kpop, having a mental disorder must be hard. Starting from the fact that only if you have a severe disorder that stops you from being functional on stage the company will let you have a hiatus (or if the company its actually kind and knows they are handling with humans), but also the fact that all you life, you actions, everything is overanalized to fit a narrative and appeal to fans. Im sure a lot of idols deal with anxiety, even maybe depression, and if that is hard already, I dont want to imagine idols who have other disorders like OCD, BPD, bipolar disorder… (I think the only idol who was open about having a disorder was Sumni saying she has BPD? and DPR Ian saying he had DID/has bipolarity, idk if there are other cases.) The industry is now a bit open about disorders like ADHD with some idols like NingNing coming out, but I wonder how idols with other mental disorders must feel, an idol live must be triggering as hell and the mayority of idols dont have the company's support. I mean, we all can see an ED similar- behaviour right now with several idols, and we can see how their company doesnt care, and some fans also dont care.
And another thing is being queer and an idol. South Korea isnt open with LGBT+ representation or support, fans are not even supportive neither. Shipping culture a lot of times is filled with fans who have the fantasy of their favs being a couple but then not showing support if the idol comes out. Imagine the pain it has to be seeing fans shipping you with a same sex idol knowing that if you come out, a lot wont support you. Thats what I hate from shipping culture: yeah, you ship idols for the sake of having idol yaoi – yuri, but would you support that idols if they indeed are queer? Just see how fans react to idols having a partner… Damn, even see the way some people talks about XLOV or XG.
Honestly, I sometimes feel so bad for the idols. Another wave of "concern about idols's mental health" is starting and I feel so bad for the idols who are stuck with untreated mental disorders, with not being accepted as who they are and being unable of love who they love…
